Hunting cries and calls on buttons: Supplementary

Below is a (sadly rather poor) image of an extremely rare regimental hunt button from the 18th century.  Currently in the hands of a private collector whom wishes to remain anonymous, this early 7th Dragoon Guards button is a true Hunt button, rather than a ‘saddle club’ or blazer button used on a hunt coat.

It carries the 7 D G cypher, the hunting cry of Forward or Forrard (I can’t quite make it out) and the magnificent sight of a sabre crossed by a fox’s brush.   It carries no backmark, so it’s not easy to date specifically, and it may well be the only known example.   I know that both hunt and military button collectors Ooh and Ahh over it, and I am rather envious myself.
